We live in a world where extremists, who we know as terrorists, deliver death to innocent people almost daily. We know that we are their target and we also know that they feed their hatred by believing what they do is holy and right. It is obvious that they have a strong faith in what they believe otherwise they would not be able to act the horrific, evil deeds on peaceful, harmless people in the world whom they never even met before. Did you ever question yourself, what is your right response to such evil that impacts all of our lives on different levels? The number one answer is, take your own faith seriously. If you think you already do that, take it to another level. “Eat this scroll” says the angel to the prophet Ezekiel (2:8-3-4). Chew, swallow, digest the scripture, the Word of God. Do not be satisfied hearing the message of God only once a week on Sunday, but be hungry for it during the week. Read, analyze, question, learn and live scripture and you will have no fear, no doubt in God who want to see a “mighty flood of justice” rolling down upon the world to bring us “an endless river of righteous living” (Amos 5:24). Imagine what would happen in your life, how happy you could be if someone in your life would give you just 30 minutes of special care and kindness a day, imagine if all the people you know would turn to God for a 10 minute special time daily. We would be wiser, kinder, stronger and fearless to stand tall against evil in this world anywhere and anytime. Copyright © 2016, by Rev. |
In a survey that was published before Easter by the National Retail Federation, I read that only 50% of Americans go to church on Easter Sunday. The other 50% cook a holiday meal at home and share it with friends and family, while they watch television. Would not be nice if they would do both? It could be the most holy conclusion of the Holy Week to keep our focus on the cross and share the precious moment of letting out our everyday fear and anxiety together in worship and celebration. We could all exercise love and friendship in one joyous moment, knowing that we are alive in Christ; we are invincible in the risen Lord. I urge you to do not stop your quest to be holy after Easter. Remain always on the look out to cease the moment to do good. Focus on God always, knowing that God is the same as he was yesterday, and will be the loving, forgiving, victorious almighty Savior tomorrow. Continue to live in holiness with Christ, who is faithful, good and holy to you. This is the only sensible way to live counting on the word of scripture that warns us, “beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come and the Lord returns.” Mindenki ellazulhatna, elfeledhetné a személyes problémáit a keresztre tekintve, amiben együtt örülhetnénk Jézus Krisztus győzelmének a halál felett. This assembly was the first in many decades, when we had the chance to hear many voices from our membership. Brothers and sisters shared their concerns and hope to make our church a holy place once again where families come to praise the Lord and serve God while they are supporting each other. Our Chief Elder’s advice to all was, “get involved”. We all agreed with him and I am sure you agree with him too. Do something in our congregation, for our church, for God, for Jesus Christ! There are so many things that a person can do in the congregation, among the simplest is to attend the worship service, pray for your church, make financial contributions, be a greeter, come to coffee hour, visit members of the church, or just ask the pastor to help you to do something for the church that is right for you. Thank people for their time and effort that they sacrifice for the congregation, which I will do now. Allow me to take the opportunity to thank Mrs. Judy Sendelsky, Mrs. Elizabeth Yochavitch, Mr. Frank Alexai and Mr. Alex George for their many years of service on the Church Council and to wish God’s blessings to Ms. Maria Jozsef, Mrs. Pamela Sbordone and Ms. Marge Jensen for their service that they begin as new members of our Church Council. God bless us all! Sokunk számára a vasárnapok ünnepnapoknak számítanak. Így teszek most én is. Köszönöm leköszönő presbitereinknek, Mrs. Judy Sendelskynek, Mrs. Elizabeth Yochavitchnak, Mr. Frank Alexainak és Mr. Alex Georgnak évtizedes munkájukat, illetve kérem Isten áldását új presbitereink: Mrs. Pamela Sbordone, Ms. Margie Jensen és Ms. Maria Jozsef munkájára és életére.Isten áldja meg gyülekezetünket! As we are reaching the final stretch of our Lenten Bible Study, one thing is definite; the learning experience had an impact on all participants. God has touched us in many ways. Some of us changed their views about life and death. Others reached into a new depth of understanding the relationships of the four Gospels. However, above all, we experienced God’s holiness just as our bible describes it in Ephesians (1:4), “God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy”. The important word in this quotation is “chose” because we can all make choices and we can all decide if we want to experience God’s holiness or not, but we must know that without God’s desire, without God’s choosing to allow us to be saved, our choice to be holy is worthless. An isolated nation, ruled by a dictatorship may rise up and decide to be a democracy, yet it only can become one if they learn the principles of democratic freedom from nations who have a long, established experience of it, that they chose to share with them for nothing in return. We are the same way with God. We can make our choice to be holy, but it is only possible through Jesus Christ who alone can make us blameless in the sight of God.
