There was a reporting in the news last week about the celebrity scientist, Stephen Hawking, who passed away recently. Hawking concluded in his final book, that there is no God. He also admitted that he believed in God for decades. To be precise, he believed in the God that put a curse on him, punished him to live most of his life paralyzed. The irony in this coverage for us can be the fact that, while the scientist refused to know and study the loving God who does not punish, he believed in a higher intelligence of aliens somewhere in the universe whom are smarter and more advanced than humans are. Hawking could not prove that there is no God and he could not prove that there are intelligent aliens in the universe other than humans, yet he denied the existence of God and believed in space beings.
Obviously, Stephen Hawking did not know God. He did not want to know God as a living and loving force, while he chose to believe in creatures of the mind, with zero evidence to prove their existence. From a person of high intellect, like Mr. Hawking’s had, one would think that he studied God and that he spent time with God personally in order to make sense of all suffering in life, which is the essence of faith. It leads to the discovery of hope, which was given to us in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.
Let us pray, as the Apostle Paul prayed for every follower of God, that we may have a desire not only to understand who God is, but to be able to change our lives and other people’s life, so they can discover God’s spiritual power in everything and rejoice in him. Let us pray for the people, who fear and study atom, while they question the Creator of it, whose power is the only real authority, as it was proven when God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. God’s power is almighty, loving and it is something, that is also available for you.
