Elohim, Yahweh, Adonai, Creator, Great Counselor are just a few names that we think are familiar, when we think about the God in the Old Testament. Lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, Savior, and Light of the World are again, just a few identities of Jesus Christ from the New Testament. During the ministry of Jesus many powerful men wanted to know who Jesus is and when he told them they did not believe him. In the Gospel of John (8:58) Jesus Christ tells the people, who called him Samaritan devil, that he existed even before Abraham was born. This commanding statement proclaimed his divinity without shying away from using God’s Holy name to relate to his own self. This provoked the elite, the knowledgeable, and the people who spent their lifetime in the shadow of the bible, who raised generations to study God’s Holy Word, who practically lived in the temple, but who failed to recognize God among each other. Could you say they were stubborn so much that it led them to deny God? I think you could. Let us be not like them, but always filled with a desire to search to know God. Let us expect God’s presence in all situations. Do not ever be satisfied with your understanding of God, but let God challenge you again and again with an appetite to discover his truth. Starve yourself for God’s Holiness and live every day of your life with a hunger for the knowledge of God that should never let you rest. Rev. Tamas Devecseri Copyright © 2016, by Rev. Fellelhető némi merevség ezekben a bölcs, jómódú emberekben? Nt. Devecseri Tamás |
