Serve the Lord - Keresd Istent

“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” – Matthew 6:33

This year our congregation hosted the Annual Meeting of the Eastern Classis, which important event serves us all as the children of God. During this event we, as the members of the congregation donated our time and talents to serve other brothers and sisters from the various churches of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America.  I was and still humbled to notice that we have a small church, yet we have several exceptional faithful members, who decided to come and fulfill the promise of Scripture and put God first in their lives to fulfill their thoughts and desires to sacrifice for God and for his people.  That is a portion of seeking first God’s kingdom and his righteousness. I am not sure, when was the last time that our church family hosted the meeting of the classis, but I am positive that it is a sign of Christ resurrection after decades of reserved survival mode. The hard work of maintaining servitude in God’s kingdom is not over. It just began. Let us pray and keep looking for ways to serve the Lord. While we are noticed by now among our fellow Christians in the Hungarian reformed Church in America, we should also take part in serving God and his children on the level of the classis or the synod all year around. That is what God desires from us and that is how we can all by the grace of God have some control on our own destiny. God help us all and bless us all in the name of our

Lord, Jesus Christ to remain builders of his glorious kingdom forever.
We thank you gracious God for the moments of blessedness, when we become filled with joy to serve you in our own ways. Be with us, bless us and sustain us in the name of your holy Son, in whose name we pray. Amen.

,,De keressétek először az ő országát és igazságát” –  Máté 6:33

Idén gyülekezetünk adott otthont a Független Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház Keleti Egyházmegye éves gyűlésének. Ez egy fontos összejövetel, amely lehetőséget ad arra, hogy szolgáljuk egyházunkat és a közösség kedvébe járjunk . A gyűlés előkészítésében és lebonyolításában egyházunk tagjai idejüket és energiájukat nem sajnálva vettek részt, hogy minden keresztyén testvérünk, aki más egyházaktól eljött a gyűlésre otthon érezze magát. Számomra felemelő érzés volt azt látni, hogy bár kicsi egyháznak számítunk  mégis szép számban vettek részt egyháztagjaink az önfeláldozó munkában, amivel Isten országát állt szándékukban építeni. Számukra fontos volt, hogy segítsenek, amely a hitből nőtt elég erőssé ahhoz, hogy szinte megtestesítse az Igét. Az ilyen feladatvállalás az, amikor tudjuk, hogy valaki keresi az Úr igazságát és országát. Nem tudom pontosan, hogy mikor rendezte egyházunk utoljára az egyházmegye gyűlését, de ami biztos, hogy az idei szolgálatunk magát a feltámadt Jézust idézte fel templomunkban, ahol évtizedek hosszú, passzív és csak a túlélésre beállított gondolkodásmódja megtört. Elkezdődött talán egy új és reményteljes időszak, amikor a közösségi munka nem áll meg. A szolgálat folytatódik nem csak gyülekezeti szinten, hanem egyházmegyei szinten is, ahol évtizedek óta nem vett részt cartereti egyháztag a  közösségi szolgálatban. Keressük hát a tennivalót.Segítsen meg bennünket a mennyei Atya, hogy folytathassuk a reánk bízott munkát még nagyon sokáig igazul és töretlenül.

Köszönjük Neked jóságos Isten az áldott pillanatokat, amikor szívünk megtelik örömmel azért, mert Téged szolgálhatunk. Légy velünk, áldj meg bennünket, hogy ne vesszünk el és építhessük országodat hittel  és szeretettel a Jézus Krisztusban. Ámen.
